Berkeley
County, Planner II position
The
Berkeley County Planning Commission seeks qualified candidates
for the position of Planner II.
This position is Salary Scale Grade AA-I.
Primary responsibilities shall include the
administrative processing and technical review of major and
minor subdivision and site plan applications.
A Bachelor’s degree in planning, public
administration, geography, or a related field is required.
The applicant should have a minimum of three to five
years experience in public sector planning.
The Planner II will work closely with the development
community and members of the Staff Technical Advisory
Committee to ensure that plats and plans are reviewed in a
timely and accurate manner.
The Planner II will be required to obtain an in-depth
understanding of the Berkeley County Subdivision Regulations
and other relevant State and local laws. He/she will be able to respond effectively to routine
information requests, and will be responsible for dealing with
walk-in customers and telephone inquiries,
Computer literacy is a must; at a minimum, the
successful applicant will be proficient with basic word
processing and spread sheet software programs, such as
Microsoft Word and Excel.
GIS (Geographic Information Systems) experience
strongly preferred. This position requires the ability to
perform a multitude of advanced professional planning tasks
and entails advanced administrative responsibilities.
AICP certification preferred; strong oral and writing
skills required, as well as excellent communications skills
and problem solving abilities. The starting salary range for
this position is $33,900. - $35,900., commensurate with
education and experience, plus an excellent benefits package.
