Salary
Scale $21,700 - $23,500 Based on Experience and Qualifications
The
general responsibilities include: receiving and dispatching
fire ambulance, and police calls; maintaining logs;
controlling monitoring and recording devices; keeping files of
all messages received and sent; updating, accessing and
entering information into a computer; maintaining current
index of streets and annexations.
This
position requires employees to work in highly stressful
emergency situations where
serious
injury to persons and/or property may occur as a result of
error. As this is
an Emergency
9-1-1
Center operating seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day,
individuals will work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
Minimum
qualifications include: high school diploma or equivalent;
minimum age of 18; working knowledge of fire, ambulance and
police procedures and communications; knowledge of Berkeley
County; ability to type 35 wpm; must have 20/20 vision (normal
correction allowed); no color blindness; must have excellent
hearing. CPR
(Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), Teletype, Emergency Medical
Dispatching certification, and APCO 40-hour Basic
Telecommunications Course must be obtained after employment as
required by supervisor.
